A note from our family

The family behind Melton-Kurunjang

We opened in Melton because this community is growing quickly, and young families here deserve care they can settle into. Ours is a family business, and we stay close to the everyday life of the centre. Come and meet the team. Ten minutes in our rooms will tell you more than anything we could write here.

Montessori long day care and kindergarten in Melton

Billy-beet Melton Montessori is a family-owned childcare centre and kindergarten at 13 Yuille St, on the quiet corner where Melton meets Kurunjang, next to the Melton Valley Golf Club. We offer long day care from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm, with dedicated rooms for every stage, from infants and waddlers to 3 and 4-year-old kindergarten, for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years. As a Melton Montessori early learning centre, every room is a prepared environment with real Montessori materials on low, open shelves.

We welcome families from Melton, Melton South, Melton West, Kurunjang, Brookfield, Harkness and the new Strathtulloh and Cobblebank estates, just minutes from Woodgrove Shopping Centre. Montessori programming runs alongside the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and the National Quality Standard (NQS), delivered by qualified educators. If you are weighing up daycare options in Melton, come and spend a morning with us before you decide.

If you are looking for childcare near Kurunjang, we are usually the closest Montessori option: the centre sits just on the Melton side of the border, around five minutes from most Kurunjang streets. About a third of our families come from Kurunjang, so drop-offs stay quick and your child's kinder friendships stay close to home.

What Montessori gives your child

Montessori shapes the whole day here. The rooms are calm and ordered, the materials are real, and our educators guide gently rather than interrupt.

Practical independence

Children pour their own drinks, help prepare food and pack their own bags, then carry that confidence home.

Deep concentration

Uninterrupted learning cycles grow the focus children carry into school.

Calm social skills

Mixed-age rooms teach patience, care for younger children and confidence with older ones.

School readiness

Early literacy and numeracy grow through hands-on materials children can hold and understand.

Safety, in practice

How we keep children safe

Safety is the first thing most parents ask about, and it should be. Here is what it looks like in practice at Billy-beet, and we are glad to walk you through any of it at your tour.

Our own educators, never agency staff

We never use agency casuals. Every educator here is part of our own team, screened with a recent police check, a Working with Children Check and two reference checks before they ever meet your child.

4-eyes supervision

Research on child safety points to one simple safeguard above most others: more than one adult present. Our 4-eyes practice staffs rooms with two educators wherever possible, and it is one part of our wider child safety approach.

CCTV in learning spaces

We have had CCTV across our learning spaces from the start, because transparency and accountability are values we hold, not requirements we wait for. If anything is ever in question, we can sit down with you and review exactly what happened, and we support the government's current review into CCTV requirements for early learning.

Windows and open rooms

We use windows and visible, open learning spaces wherever possible, promoting transparency and safety.

Body safety education

Children learn personal boundaries, safe and unsafe feelings, and who they can talk to, in an age-appropriate way, every term.

Our name is on the door

This centre is run by our family, and we take personal responsibility for the care inside it. If you ever want to raise something, you will always reach a real person.

Good to know

Common questions from families

Are you a franchise?

No. Billy-beet Montessori Melton-Kurunjang is family owned and operated, so decisions are made close to the children, families and educators they affect. You are always welcome to talk to us directly.

We are new to childcare. How does CCS work?

Most families pay far less than the advertised daily fee. You register once through myGov/Centrelink, and the Child Care Subsidy is applied directly to your account. From January 2026, the 3-Day Guarantee gives eligible families at least three subsidised days a fortnight regardless of activity. We will help you set it up.

Does my child need Montessori experience to start?

No. Children join the prepared environment at their own pace and educators guide them into the routine one-on-one. Independence grows quickly once children realise they are trusted to do real things.

What is your approach to child safety?

A minimum of two educators wherever children learn and play, active supervision, body safety education and clear educator responsibilities. Please ask us anything about safety at your tour. It is a conversation we are always glad to have.

What are your hours?

We are open 6:30 am to 6:30 pm, Monday to Friday. The day is designed with commuting parents in mind.

What happens at a tour?

You will see every room, meet educators, and talk through your child’s routine, fees, CCS and availability. Tours take about 30 minutes and children are very welcome.

Do you offer a kindergarten program?

Yes. Kindergarten runs within long day care, and we can talk you through current program and funding options at your tour.
