Kinder 2025 at Billy-Beet Childcare and Kindergarten

Billy-Beet offers Victorian State Government Approved ‘Free Kinder’ in both an integrated long day care setting and sessional kinder for 3- and 4-year-old children, available 5 days per week.

As a provider of long day care, integrated kindergarten, and sessional kindergarten, our 3- and 4-year-old rooms, known as ‘Kinder Rooms’, are equipped with Bachelor-qualified teachers who deliver a program focused on social and emotional development, aiming to achieve school readiness. We also offer language, literacy, and numeracy resources through engaging and inquiry-based experiences, enriching your child’s kinder journey as they prepare for primary school. Our program follows the National Early Years Learning and Development Framework (EYLDF).

Integrated Kindergarten at Billy-Beet

At Billy-Beet Childcare and Kindergarten, we believe in empowering children to be active participants in their own learning journey. Rooted in the Reggio Emilia philosophy, our approach centres around fostering creativity, curiosity, and collaboration. We understand the profound impact early education has on a child’s future, and we are here to help your child build a strong foundation for lifelong success.

Our centre is more than just a childcare facility—it’s a vibrant community where children, families, and educators come together to celebrate learning. Through purposeful interactions and meaningful experiences, children at Billy-Beet are inspired to explore their environment, ask questions, and develop a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Frequently Asked Questions

about Victorian Government Approved Kinder:

What are the key differences between sessional and integrated kindergarten programs at Billy-Beet Childcare?
Billy-Beet operates as a long day care and sessional kinder provider, offering integrated kinder within our long day care services. We are open 12 hours per day, providing flexible care options for families.

Sessional kindergarten runs during school terms and hours, operating 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM for 40 weeks per year.

In integrated kinder, we charge a daily fee that includes meals, additional programs, and extended hours, offering more than a sessional kinder setting. Integrated Kinder is provided at no additional cost to families. You may also benefit from reduced long day care fees through the Federal Childcare Subsidy (CCS) and Victorian State Government’s ‘Free Kinder’ credits.

Sessional Kinder: Children need to bring a healthy lunch box and a drink bottle filled with water, and sun hat.

How do Government Approved Kinder hours work for 3- and 4-year-old children?
  • 3-year-old Kinder: The minimum State Government-funded Kinder hours are 7.5 hours per week. Your child needs to attend at least two days per week, where the 7.5-hour kinder program will be delivered progressively throughout the day. Families can enrol for more days if they wish, benefiting from the full range of offerings in our integrated kinder program.
  • 4-year-old Kinder: The minimum funded Kinder hours are 15 hours per week. Your child needs to attend at least 2 days per week to receive the full 15-hour program, with 7.5 hours delivered each day. Families can enrol for additional days, receiving the benefits of the integrated kinder program daily.

Note: Billy-Beet cannot split the required hours into two full days (2 × 7.5 hours), as our teachers work a 7.5-hour day, with 5 hours dedicated to the Kinder program, 2 hours for planning and documentation, and a 0.5-hour lunch break.

Is outdoor play supervised?

Yes, outdoor play at BillyBeet is always fully supervised by our trained educators. We ensure a safe and engaging environment where children can explore, play, and learn while being closely monitored at all times. Safety is our top priority, and our team follows strict guidelines to provide a fun and secure outdoor experience

What is the ratio of children to educators?
  • Children under three – 4 children to 1 educator
  • Children over three – 11 children to 1 educator
What happens if my child’s booked day falls on a Public Holiday?

We are closed on public holidays. If your booked day falls on a public holiday, you will still be charged. This is because our educators are employed on a permanent, full-time basis to maintain consistency in each room, fostering strong bonds and relationships with the children. As they would have otherwise been  working, they are still paid for this day. If your child was scheduled to attend on a public holiday, it will be recorded as an absence, and you will remain eligible for the Childcare Subsidy, meaning you only need to cover the gap fee. For more details on absences from care, please refer here.

What is Early Start Kindergarten?
Early Start Kindergarten gives eligible children 15 hours of free or low-cost kindergarten per week for two years before starting school. To be eligible, your child must be three by 30th April in the year they start kindergarten and meet one of the following criteria:

  • Be from a refugee or asylum seeker background
  • Identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
